I received my "Approval Notice Sent" email on Aug 13th and actually received the notice on 16th. However, never received any "Card Production Ordered" email. From your post, it looks like you received the card production email before the "Approval Notice Sent" email. I am just wondering why I didn't receive any card production ordered email.
I would imagine that once the 485 is approved, card production is automatically ordered. Any input guys?

Last year in March end I had an opportunity to go for business trip to Frankfurt, it was technical conference of my company. Just 5 days before the due date, my H1 was to expire. Thanks to this moron in my HR, the whole H1 renenwal was delayed to just 2 weeks before expiry. We paid extra to expedite the H1 renewal, fixed Visa stamping/interview apointment at Ottawa, ON same week as we applied for visa renewal. In-fact I had apointments paid for two consecutive days(friday and monday), just in-case the documents do not arrive on time. And they didn't ( aka Murphy Law) till saturday. So headed out on Sunday to Ottawa from MI. arrived Monday morning, got the visa extended next day. Arrived back in office on Wednesday morning, sent all the documents to Chicago consulate office, with same day delivery. Anxiously awaited to hear-back till Tursday afternoon. Started frantically calling consulate office on Friday Morning. Believe it or not someone did returnback my repeated calls and complained about why I was calling everyone in office and in future try to send application atleast 1-2 weeks before travel. My flight was booked for Saturday 3:00 pm in afternoon and believe it or not I collected my passport with visa at noon!!!:rolleyes:
P.S: Trip was great and in-fact also got chance to visit Paris!!!:cool:

I believe there are very few left before April 1st 2004. EB2 I was stuck at April 1st 2004 for a long time and never moved from that date (excluding 2-3 times for a month or two when2006 people got approved). There will be lot of people from first half of 2004.
Yeah, before it went to Dec 1999, it was June 2004 i think and during the August 2006 current time lots of 2005s and 2006s got approved.
Since its till Jan 2005 this time i reckon its purely gonna be core 2004.

This is an answer to Ron Hira types of folks who complain H1b visas are complimenting offshore work. So the answer to Ron Hira is - B1 visa will compliment the offshoring and not h1b.
For consulting companies - As long as they can easily transport people back and forth - whatever visa - they don't care.
This is good news for fresh h1b seekers because h1b visas will be freed up for you to come here and immigrate into the US system.
There will be a challenge to Mom and Pop body shops - As they cannot offshore and rely on h1b visa holders for a living - Durbin and Grassley amendments will pose restrictions on H1b visa consulting and these small shops will face a challenge in future.
If any of you work for these shops and want a GC - get ur EAD ASAP. I am sure changes are coming - This proves that Uncle SAM is always watching.

I am kind of thinking of getting a template kind of system where in members can involve and put in their thoughts and once an article ( of some interest) reaches to a final stage and gets approved by the majority it would be forwarded to the news papers / Journals.
I am not sure how much time it takes, but let me try out crystallizing the thoughts towards this end.
Would be great, if few people can join me in this endeavor. PM folks/writers who wish to involve themselves in this process.
This is a process that has to evolve and please do not have expectations as to see results right away.

Depends on what you mean by porting. Do you already have an approved 140 in EB2 or are you going to start from scratch by having the company file for a labor?
If it is the latter, the company as per the law must pay for the labor filing, advertising costs. Anything after that, there is no problem for you to be paying for the GC.

Can anyone suggest me a good health insurance policy for the state of TN? What are the things that are important and what should be ignored? Most of the time I dont understand the technical terms used in it.
Currently I have one from a big health insurance company bought on the internet. I thought I was covered well. Every year they are raising the premium by about $30.00/month. I want to get another one, if anyone has bought from the open market please let me know.

You need visa to enter or exit. When you exit you need to turn in I94 on the pp with the stamp of your entrance as well as your new extension. On entrance they will check the old visa and write down the visa number on the new I94 that they officer will provide. The I94 usually has the visa duration as the end date. Next you apply for an amended h4 to reflect the new I94 number which was provided at the POE. Asfar as I know the I94 date is always linked to a visa and not the Notice of Action. when i faced the same issue this what I was told.

Not sure if i cant use the EAD. My lawyer said if USCIS hasnt revoked the EAD it is safe to use it. Currently though I am on H1B which is valid for one more month.
It doesnt make sense to me that i have to pay for USCIS mistake. Would contacting senator/congressman will help?

There is a bill pending in the House which was introduced by Rep. Zoe Lofgren of California which is similar to this new Senate bill which was introduced yesterday by Sen. Barbara Boxer of California. The House bill is H.R. 6039 and the Senate bill is S. 3084. Both of these bills propose to exempt U.S. advanced degree holders working for the U.S. employers from the numerical limit in the employment based immigration. The full text of the House bill is posted on May 11, 2008.

Yes, you should get H1B stamp with Company C's annotation. Roseball's comments seems to suggest that it is not necessary to get a new visa as long as you H1B has not expired. However, that is not what I was told by my attorney when I changed employer and had to visit India. Also, during my interview in Chennai, the officer told me "I see that your application is for change of employer". I just said yes. I think it is best that you get in touch with an attorney and seek attorney's opinion. They are the experts and will have the correct information.
